Last post of the semester

I have been working at my company for about three years, a company that believes in the power of innovation. But change has been hard, including for those in public relations and marketing. Where does a social medium come in to play when everything they have done to boost their company’s presence was offline?

Search Engine Watch says:

“Social media allows us to build real relationships over time, not the fake smiles we put on during trade shows and events. It's what PR professionals have always done, wrapped in a more accessible format.”

Social media eliminates the middle man. You can come directly to your customer or audience to their home.

The great thing about being in public relations is that you know how to be on point and relevant. Social media requires that and is easy for those who are already in that mindset. It is important to understand that people stay connected to companies through social media because they CHOOSE to. They WANT to be updated. What else can anyone ask for?

This is why it is important for you to take care of your fans and followers.

A good PR person will know how to use social media to push a brand without it feeling too forced. These ongoing relationships you can have with your audience are a great advantage. Rather than advertising on TV or radio, these relationships are long lasting.

Just remember that is important to LISTEN to your audience. Look at your metrics. See if what you are doing is right or wrong. Do not lose those relationships.

Why do you think social media important for a business?

Should  a PR professional handle a social media account?

How do you think social media has changed the way we do business?
