End of Semester Wrap: What Worked and What Didn't Work
At the beginning of this course I didn’t have a social media strategy and I didn’t know what a plan could encompass. Almost 12 weeks later, at the end of course, I have come to realize that having a strategy isn’t as simple as it looks. I must admit that I am still trying to figure out a clear idea what I am trying to accomplish, how I should approach and how much a commitment is required from me to be successful.
As this semester comes to an end, I do not have a strategic plan yet but I at least have an idea of how social media success looks like. I have done this by listening instead of talking. I am ready to start implementing a strategy because I have done a social audit of social media performance.
My social platform consisted of a blog, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Instagram. I have identified the ideal platforms for my brand and how they fit together. I have also discovered my voice. I stopped having a robotic voice and started engaging on a human level. I let my unique voice and personality ring out.
I have come to the conclusion that I should brand myself as a social media expert and photographer. But if there is one niche of social media that I would like to become an expert in more than others, and that is the use of social media in healthcare.
BLOG
My personal blog can be found at www.mariabelenfarias.com/blog. This blog is meant to go with my portfolio page, which showcases my photography and videos. Out of all my previous blogs in the past years, this one has been the most successful.
I have been using the analytics within SquareSpace to see my daily measurements. They differ from Google’s Analytics but I still think it is a measure of success.
