Introduction

My name is Maria Belen Farias but I usually go by Belen. Why you ask? My family is from Argentina, and in Argentina most people go by their middle names. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 with a bachelor's in journalism. Since then I have been working as a photojournalist at the Health Science Center of UF. I photograph six colleges, Shands Healthcare and many institutions. This job has given me many great opportunities to see things that otherwise I would have never been able to see, like surgeries. I sometimes wish I could've been better at math and science in order to become a cool doctor. For now I will just be a fly on the wall and photograph them.

I am currently earning a master's in mass communications with a specialization in social media from the University of Florida. I originally started in the web design program but switched into the social media program when I realized that coding was not for me. <p> :( </p> 

I am so excited to dive into the depths of social media. I hope to someday own an online marketing business that will specialize in healthcare. Social media is very important in this industry because it is a great way to communicate with people quickly.
